About

Public Allies is a social justice organization committed to changing the face and practice of leadership by recruiting and training talented young leaders, with a passion for social impact, to create

meaningful change in our community. Our Allies are diverse, equity-centered,

innovative problem solvers, dedicated to mobilizing community assets to develop solutions to local challenges. In partnership with nonprofit partners, we deliver our nationally recognized, values-driven, results-led apprenticeship to advance our mission to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it.

Public Allies Eagle Rock, a program of Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center and a proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network, is the only residential (with room and board included) Public Allies program; our Allies come from across the country and live and work on Eagle Rock’s residential high school campus, alongside our high school students.

Eagle Rock’s mission is to implement effective and engaging practices that foster each student’s unique potential and help young people use their minds well. Eagle Rock is a liberating force in education. We prepare the next generation of leaders to claim their power and find their voice. If you're ready to transform yourself, our students, and your world, this is your invitation.

Connecting to the science of learning and understanding of fixed versus growth mindsets helped me to recognize the stem of some of my own insecurities as a learner, and what to be cautious of with our students. It was also powerful and important to me that we studied the concepts of culturally and historically responsive literature from Gholdy Muhammad.

Program Info

The Public Allies Eagle Rock (PAER) Fellowship Program will jump-start your career as a young educator and professional through alternative approaches to teaching and learning.

This is your opportunity to serve students through the lens of antiracist, social justice practices whilst focussing on youth development, empowerment, and re-engaging high-school students in their own education.

We are looking for passionate and committed individuals to engage in a year of service and growth. Through serving our students and engaging in professional development, fellows prepare to be changemakers in the field of education.

Loan Forgiveness

Individuals who are serving in a term of service in an approved AmeriCorps position may be eligible to have the repayment of their qualified student loans temporarily postponed while they are serving. It is through an action called forbearance. While an individual's loan is in forbearance, the member is not required to make payments. Interest may continue to accrue but if the member successfully completes the term of service and the loan is a qualified student loan, the National Service Trust will pay all or a portion of the interest that accrued during the service period.
