The UCCS College of Education prepares teachers to innovate, inspire, and lead in the classrooms and communities they serve. Our graduates enter the profession with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions for meaningful, sustainable, high-impact careers.

UCCS offers undergraduate, graduate, and licensure programs driven by our core values of equity, inquiry, and innovation. Nearly 90% of our graduates secure and sustain teaching jobs in Colorado. Military Times distinguishes UCCS as a “Best for Vets College,” and we are a “Premier Campus” with a Campus Pride index of 4.5/5 stars.

We believe all students, at all levels, deserve an excellent education. Our signature programs address critical areas of teacher specialization, such as STEM education, inclusive practices, and rural education. At UCCS, academic courses are taught by experienced pK-12 educators who bridge theory and practice, through personalized and collaborative learning. In schools across the Pike’s Peak region, candidates engage in rich ‘hands on’ field experiences which foster career readiness, social justice, leadership, technology integration, and reflective practice.

UCCS welcomes traditional and non-traditional learners, active military and veteran students, and candidates from underrepresented communities.

The Alternative Licensure Program (ALP) at UCCS provides self-motivated, committed, resourceful candidates the opportunity to assume full-time teaching positions in Colorado public schools. Ideal ALP applicants are paraprofessionals, substitute teachers, career changers, retired military veterans, or others who have the background, maturity, and drive to complete this rigorous, fast-paced program. Those seeking only licensure can complete the program with ten courses. Once they obtain initial licensure, ALP candidates can earn a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction by taking two additional courses.
